Now Available! Job 1 - Because Your Health is Not Optional
Be Your Best You in 2022

The challenges of the past couple of years have taught us a lot about perseverance, patience, and gratitude. Now it’s time to take those lessons and use them to start healthy habits so you can conquer your goals.

Even the smallest change, the tiniest baby step forward can snowball into a huge, positive effect on your life.

Here are 12 ways to make 2022 your best year yet!

1. Set a Single-Word Intention
“Intentions are like a declaration we are ready for change,” says Jenna Monaco, certified meditation and mindfulness teacher and stress coach.

Choose a word of the year that speaks to you and come back to it whenever you need inspiration.

2. Take One Tiny Step Every Day
Setting too many goals and setting unrealistic expectations are common mistakes that can sabotage your goals.

Small changes, done regularly, are easier to commit to — and they quickly add up to big changes. “The progress is astounding,” Monaco says.

3. Sip More Water
One of the easiest and most beneficial resolutions you can make is to drink more water. Water plays a vital role in just about everything, from proper cell functioning to healthy digestion to glowing skin. So staying hydrated is key.

4. Shift Your Healthy-Eating Mindset
“Instead of looking for what you should eliminate from your diet, consider taking the opposite approach and searching for things you should add,” says Leah Barron, R.D., L.D., CPT.

Make positive additions, like adding more protein to your plate and increasing your intake of fruits and veggies. Start blending dark leafy greens like spinach and kale into your healthy smoothies.

Try adding some of these vegetarian dishes and vegan meal prep recipes to your weekly meal plan.

5. Get Your Healthy Fats
Healthy fats can help you feel fuller, and research suggests high-quality fats as part of a balanced diet can help with weight management. Look for foods with healthy fats such as avocado, nut butters, and olive oil.

6. Rethink Your Workouts
“Leave behind the idea that every workout has to be high-intensity or full of complicated moves,” Barron says.

If you hit the weights hard or do a killer HIIT workout one day, perhaps go for a hike or a light jog the following one.

7. Prioritize Sleep
It’s tempting to skimp on sleep so you have more time to hustle. But getting enough zzz’s can have a positive impact on your willpower, stress levels, and eating habits.

8. Practice Gratitude
Write down five things you’re grateful for each day.

“Taking the time to notice and acknowledge all the things you are grateful for is one of the most beneficial additions you can make to your day,” Monaco says. “These don’t have to be huge things. In fact, they shouldn’t be. It can be as simple as enjoying a perfect cup of coffee.”

9. Make it a Team Effort
“Find an accountability partner, where you can cheer each other on and check in with one another often,” Monaco says.

When your willpower is waning, it’ll be easier to stick to your resolutions when you know someone else is counting on you. That could mean scheduling a Zoom workout or cooking date with a friend or connecting with an online community of people who share similar goals. 10. Be Adaptable
“If 2021 taught us anything, it’s that we have to be adaptable,” Monaco says. “Work with yourself, not against yourself, and you’ll be sure to shine brighter in 2022.”
5 Meal Prep Pointers for Beginners

1. Think about what you want
Planning your meals for the week doesn’t have to be complicated. It might seem a little daunting at first, but it’s surprising how many different meals you can make with just a limited number of ingredients.

2. Check out these resources
Beachbody offers free meal plans that have already done all the heavy lifting for you. Most are five days long, and there are vegetarian meal prepsvegan meal prepsgrain-free meal prepno-cook meal preps, and more. The meal preps are categorized by calorie level, and most include step-by-step instructions and a grocery list.

3. Plan before you shop
If you’re not ready to commit to a full meal prep just yet, keep it simple. LA Life Chef Seth Santoro suggests no-fuss combinations like chicken, brown rice, and broccoli for dinner, and salmon, roasted carrots, and spinach for lunch. To add flavor without calories, stock up on herbs and spices.

Choose recipes with similar ingredients to cut down on meal prep and waste. Seasonal vegetables are also a good source of inspiration.

Once you have your meal-prep recipe list, check your pantry and fridge for ingredients, make a list, and then you can head to the store prepared.

4. Batch cook staples to use later
Once you’re comfortable meal prepping, Santoro recommends preparing staples — like chicken, salmon, rice, oats, lentils, and yams — in bulk. You’ll return to them again and again, and they can take the longest to cook.

“You can make a pot of rice, use some now for a meal, refrigerate a portion, and freeze a portion to be used later,” he says.

5. Try these time savers
  • Include some no-cook recipes in your meal prep. Snacks like Shakeology and foods that don’t require cooking (like salads and overnight oats) can help save time in the prep process.
  • When prepping, use the oven to cook several things at once. Veggies can generally roast together, and there’s a reason sheet-pan dinners are becoming so popular — no muss, no fuss.
  • Don’t shy away from the Crock-Pot or the Instant Pot. They’re super time-savers — just add ingredients, set, and forget. While it’s doing the work on one recipe, you have time to focus on another.

Wanted: 50 Lady Leaders and 50 Men Who Lead!

In October 2011, while on his deathbed, my daddy made this daddy's girl promise him that I'd start taking better care of me so that I could live and not just exist like he was doing. I believe we're blessed to be a blessing, so I took it a step further and began paying it forward to help others as well. Have you ever considered joining me and doing the same?

Every day I thank God for answering my prayer request for time freedom and flexibility while still being able to do something meaningful AND keep the ability I had of working from home, especially since the pandemic hit. I don't know about you, but God rarely packages the answers to my prayers in a manner that's within my comfort zone. So a few years ago, when He gifted me with this blessing of helping others make life-changing physical, nutritional, financial, and spiritual transformations, I almost blocked it because He didn't answer my prayer the way I thought it would or even should be answered. Nope, He always packages the answers to my prayers in a way that forces me to grow. He's awesome like that.

God has placed an ongoing yearly calling on my heart, and in an effort to be obedient, I'm looking for 50 Lady Leaders and 50 Men Who Lead who want to not only make their own transformations, but to pay it forward and help your community, both geographical and virtual communities, get healthier and wealthier physically, nutritionally, spiritually, and financially. Oh, and this needs to happen by the end of this year.

If God is leading you to be 1 of the 50 Lady Leaders  or 1 of the 50 Men Who Lead before the end of this year, and this sounds like a good fit for you, whether on a part-time basis or a full-time basis, contact me!
